Hello! and thanks for this awesome plugin!

I use it in various websites and I never had problems, but in my last website for some reason the queries fired from the WP admin panel are not going through elasticsearch and therefore they are very slow (the site has 20k posts).

I have indexed the site multiple times, and tried to activate/deactivate some extra features like Facets or Term Queries, but nothing changed…

In frontend it seems to be working fine, the search is quick and I can see the graphs in your dashboard are counting those queries (the site is in staging, hence it’s just me visiting).
But when I search something in the admin I can see with query monitor that the query is taking forever and it seems a normal WP query, and the counter in the elasticpress dashboard are not incrementing…

I’m sure it’s something wrong with my setup but I cannot figure out what… Do you have any suggestion about where I should look? what could be causing such problem?

thanks in advance for your help!

Hi @piccart, it is great to read you like the plugin, thanks! Did you consider leaving a review already? πŸ™‚

Answering your question, to have admin queries integrated with ElasticPress you will have to activate the Protected Content feature.

As we don’t provide support here, feel free to send any further questions in our GitHub Repository. Thanks!

    hello!

sorry for the belated reply but I initially read your answer when I was in a hurry and then I forgot to come back…

Enabling the “Protected Content” option has indeed activated the use of elasticsearch in WP Admin. Thanks!

I would suggest maybe to write something about it in the description of that option so that it’s obvious that it is also what’s needed in order to use elasticsearch at all in the admin.

    p.s. I’ve also rated the plugin! πŸ™‚
