Dave Zatz’s Tweets

This is the kind of post I like stumbling upon. I have no need to know how a QR code works, but it’s something interesting to learn.

Ever wondered how a QR code works? No, me neither but it's low-key fascinating. (Warning, there is some extremely nerdy shit here.👇 )

Good news for Apple Watch users on WatchOS 9. Swimmers can now track their efficiency with a swim efficiency/SWOLF score. This score is almost identical to the Swim Efficiency Index (SEI) metric provided by the Speedo Monitor which I developed and launched in 1997.

Hm. Seems like it’s not suitable for a nightstand clock.

A new "portable computing device" from Microsoft has shown up in multiple new listings on the FCC website. With 4G LTE and 5G support, it could be a new Surface Duo, Surface tablet, or... anything else, honestly. apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/repo

And prioritize homes, apartments, workplaces with chargers. Rebate credits should have included homeowner/landlord electrification.

I just love how enthused this guy is to play Daredevil. (I hope Disney/Marvel doesn’t neuter character’s brooding, confliction, violence too much.)

Haven’t seen one in person yet, but just watched an iPhone 14 Pro YouTube video and gave concluded Apple needs an always-on-display setting for everything, as shipped, OR just time and widgets.

I did this last year and it was terrible. So maybe iCloud is more terrible. Or your mileage may vary. And perhaps iOS 15/16 migrates better than 14/15. Or my apps are bad. Who knows. :)

Still my advice, one year later, after trying both iCloud Backup restore and device-to-device transfer with new phones this week. Device-to-device is the way to go. twitter.com/gruber/status/…

Google seems to have decided to solve the issue of Google Pay not accurately recording merchant names by throwing money at the problem: The app now sometimes asks me to verify its data, offering a reward of 25 cents for each answer.
App dialog titled "Google Pay Survey Rewards" asks "Confirm the correct business name and address for the transaction below," with its record for the merchant, sum and date shown below alongside a map. In this case, it had correctly logged a purchase at a ticket-vending machine in Copenhagen's central train station.

Speaking of which, the Echos lit up with a yellow light and Alexa wants me to order batteries. Wondering if Outdoor is the Blink I was looking at to replace flakey Wyze.
