Facial Recognition is the worst of all possible worlds. Studies showing facial recognition algorithms have elevated error rates for identifying people of color AND police continue to use these algorithms while refusing to be transparent about the process.

This ecosystem has troubling security risks, like allowing public access to children’s photos via insecure cloud storage, dangerously weak password policies, and enabling cleartext traffic that can be exploited by network eavesdroppers.

The easiest way for government leaders to protect reproductive health seekers and providers from automated license plate readers is not to use the technology at all. If that's not politically feasible, here are some recommendations to mitigate the risk.
