When the NVUSD leadership team met over the summer in preparation for the school year, I shared with them the significance a cup of coffee, café con leche, has in my Cuban immigrant family. A warm cup of coffee with milk is synonymous with feelings of being welcome and belonging. This sense of belonging and being welcomed has been present everywhere these first few weeks of school. Especially as our community engages with our teachers and as students get to know each other and their new classroom environments. Read Dr. Mucetti’s entire letter here.
