How to swaddle your baby (Video)
Swaddling can help to soothe your newborn baby by making him feel secure and safe. Here are step-by-step instructions for three easy swaddling techniques. Always remember to put your baby down on his back to sleep, and when he is showing signs of rolling onto his side or tummy, stop swaddling.

Ingredients:
Swaddle #1: the diamond
Sleep like a baby.
The diamond can also be done with your baby’s hands out.
Swaddle #2: the square
Sweet dreams.
- one swaddling blanket
- one baby
Swaddle #1: the diamond
- Fold the top corner of the blanket down, and place your baby’s shoulders level with this fold.
- Hold his hands to his chest with his arms slightly bent.
- Pull the left side across and under his right shoulder.
- Tug the blanket at the top to make the wrap snug and tuck in the excess.
- Pull up the bottom corner, wrap it over the same shoulder and tuck under. Leave room for your baby to bend his legs up and outwards.
- Pull the right side across to make a V-neck, and hold with your thumb.
- Wrap the rest of the blanket over his shoulder, around his back and tuck into the front fold.
Sleep like a baby.
The diamond can also be done with your baby’s hands out.
- Bend your baby’s arms, and place his hands by his chin.
- Now follow the steps above.
Swaddle #2: the square
- Fold the top third of the blanket down, and place your baby’s shoulders level with this fold.
- Hold his hands by his chest. Fold the left side across, and tuck it under.
- Pull the right side across to make a V-neck, and hold it with your thumb.
- Wrap the corner over his shoulder and under his back.
- Take a bottom corner of the blanket in each hand. Fold it up, and tuck the sides under.
