I’m thrilled – as is Willie Mays -- that “24” has risen to No. 3 on the nonfiction bestseller list in the Bay Area and Northern California. It had reached No. 13 on the New York Times bestseller list and is in the company of many fabulous baseball books listed on Amazon.

Needs to be Oakland’s next mayor

This is my second time covering the #Mariners in Oakland this season, and both times, I've heard Jesse Winker say that he loves playing at the Coliseum -- which is not something I usually hear from visiting players. So naturally, I had to ask him about it:
Jesse Winker on playing at the Coliseum: "First off, the history here is amazing. Reggie Jackson, Rickey Henderson are like two of my all-time favorite players. And when you look up, you see their jersey [numbers] and their names up on top of the bleachers there. It's just a cool place to play. I'm a big fan of Oakland. I like playing baseball here, and I'm a big fan of the city. It is a baseball town. So it's just a fun spot to play, it really is."

Joc Pederson working out at first base, but don’t expect him to appear in a game there anytime soon. Giants have plenty of first basemen. Gabe Kapler called the workout “another way to keep Joc athletic.”

Joey Bart called Bumgarner "the backbone of what built a winning culture with the Giants’ organization. I’m never going to look past that. The fans can never forget how much he means to this club. He might be in another uniform, but my respect for him is never going to change.”

Giants score three runs off Madison Bumgarner in the sixth on Thairo Estrada's RBI double and Joey Bart's two-run single. It's 6-1, and the Diamondbacks are leaving the lefty in the ballgame.
