Hello!

I had finished watching The Sandman yesterday and was just feeling that Emptiness™ when you finish a really good book/series and still have one foot inside the world of it and don't wanna step away yet, the extra episode dropped. I never clicked anything so fast. While I'm not gonna be done yet with The Sandman because I fully intend on going to catch up on the comics (i wasn't around yet at the time of the original comics, I have read a few issues online and read some adjacent issues in the Hellblazer title. They scare me, piques my interest and curiousity so much at the same time that filled me with a sense of dare), this episode just fill me up with so much thrill. And the joy continues when I found out that there will be season 2, and possibly more seasons to come. I just can't wait.

I got so immersed that these past few days before going to sleep I would say 'let's meet, Morpheus'. It's silly, but I'm always fond of feeling like I have a personal connection to the characters in the books/films I experience.

I have never written to an author before, but I just wanna try on here to tell you that you are, just, simply amazing and impressive. I don't care how many people have told you this, but I wanna tell you too. I enjoyed American Gods, absolutely adored Good Omens as well.

This is not really an ask, more like a rant, and if you read this, thank you for bearing with me, hehe.

I’m so glad. (Everyone: finish watching episodes 1-10, so you can watch 11…)

In episode 6, Death implies that she goes to every person (and it seems also thing) that dies and personally escorts them to the afterlife, but she strolls between appointments and time seems to pass. How is she able to be there for everyone at their death? Does she exist in linear time?

Hi Neil, we just finished the surprise episode - it was amazing, thank you. As a cat lover I couldn't have been happier with it. It was amazingly well animated and made me feel a whole lot of things.

For the second part, it made me feel a lot of very different things. But most prevalent among those feelings was hope. Hope that I would make different choices in Ric's stead, and a little bit of fear I might not.

I also wondered about one part, at the book release party in August 2020. They discussed that "not even Jo Rowling" was allowed to write and direct. At first I was wondering why you'd feature anything regarding her, as you are very much fighting for and providing more LGBTQIA+ representation, whereas she has a different take on that, to say it kindly. But then I thought it might be meant as a dig at her instead, as you do get to write and direct the adaptations of your works (Good Omens, Anansi Boys, Sandman). Was it the latter in this case, if you don't mind me asking?

The line was the scriptwriter’s, Catherine Smyth-McMullen, and back when that was written and filmed, JK Rowling was an uncontroversial author and screenwriter, and the line was mostly meant to indicate that the agent was a bit of a dick.

maglorbaby asked:

What is the Sandman about?

It’s about 3000 pages.

callmeshirley asked:

How long did you have a tab of that ask about night of a thousand cats pinned just so you could tease it when the time was right?

No time. It came through 90 minutes before the episode was due to drop. So I answered it.

In the pouch. And on the shores of dream. Both at the same time.

Dear Neil Gailman, I just watched the new bonus episode of The Sandman and I love it. I felt the changes made to Calliope enhance the story even more. My question is related to a small change that I don't know if it was in the comic or not. "Ric". Is that a reference to the "Ric Grayson" storyline or to something else?

It’s just what he did. He did it in the comics in 1990.

captain-el-writes asked:

Why didn't you tell us there was a bonus episode coming, Neil? I'm in love! You finally gave Morpheus a girlfriend!

Also, the way she calls him by his Greek name "Oneiros" instead of Morpheus all the time is WHOLESOME and I'm here for more.

(Ex-wife, really. Not girlfriend…)

And I didn’t tell you because I wanted it to be a surprise.

tumblr advertising “you can ask neil gaiman questions about his works!” like that isn’t something you can do literally any day of the week on here

Don’t just tell everyone.
