How much milk does my toddler need in a day?

How much milk your toddler needs really depends on their age and the rest of their diet. Toddlers aged between 12 and 23 months old need two to three servings (16 to 24 ounces) of whole cow's milk or the equivalent each day. Certain foods made from milk, such as yogurt and cheese, also meet this nutritional need.

Whole cow's milk is the best choice for your toddler up until the age of two because they need the energy that the fat in milk provides. Fat carries essential vitamins A and D, so by skimming the fat off the milk, the vitamins are reduced, too.

Once your toddler turns two, they only need two servings (16 ounces) per day, and two per cent milk is fine if that’s convenient for the family.
