Betsy Shaw has contributed to BabyCenter as a writer and editor for more than 10 years. She authored the popular Babes in the Woods series, and now edits articles from parent contributors, as well as writing content on baby names.
Shaw, who started writing for BabyCenter when her daughter was a year old, is stunned and amazed that her children have grown into completely sensible teenagers, and she didn't ruin them after all. Phew!
Once an avid blogger, Shaw has now discovered Instagram, where long-winded captions are her jam. Little-known fact: Shaw was once the managing editor of a home-brewing magazine called Brew Your Own.
When she was just a few credits shy of a Bachelor of Arts in German, Shaw dropped out of college to travel the world as a competitive snowboarder. After taking snowboarding all the way to the Olympics, she retired from the sport and earned a degree in Writing, Literature, and Communications from Burlington College. Shaw also earned a Goethe Certificate in German. She's still waiting for a medal, or even just a certificate of competence, in parenting.
