Works with Dragon Naturally Speaking

I have purchased approximately 5 "high-end" voice-to-text microphones over the past 6 years for medical dictation utilizing Dragon Naturally Speaking. Although they worked well for accurate speech recognition with Dragon, they didn't seem to last as long as I thought they should, given their high price-tag. So, when my Samson Airline 77 finally bit the dust after 5 years, I thought I would give a "low-end" microphone a try. Enter the Sennheiser SC-30,

I will make a long story short:

1. Inexpensive......very.
2. Works with Dragon DNS Professional v. 15 Individual
3. Not as accurate as my Samson, but about 1/10th the price.
4. Lightweight and comfortable.

So.....if you don't want to drop $300 on a speech recognition microphone, give the SC-30 a whirl. Your results may be more accurate than mine. If not, Amazon has a great return policy.

The Phone & Mute buttons DO LIGHT UP WHEN ACTIVE

I wanted a good mono headset that was comfortable and didn't make my ears feel bruised after ~8 hours of use 5 days a week. I also wanted a headset that wasn't immersive and stereo meaning covering both ears as my line of business is technical support and I would rather just hear mono audio through 1 ear. This helps peoples bad attitudes not rub off on me or affect my performance.

The mute button does flash red if muted *no matter what circumstance* and the call button goes green when on a call with certain software, in my testing Microsoft Teams which is kind of like Skype.

The microphone quality is fantastic with a very natural and crisp sound. The noise cancellation is questionable though because I could hear my dog barking 2 rooms away through 2 closed doorways on a QuickTime test recording. I suppose if the software you're using also allows or has a codec that does software noise cancellation you'd be safe but with my job we can't have dogs/kids or basically anything that isn't expected to be heard in a real "office" environment.

The headset is very light, the earpiece is extremely soft and unlike anything I've ever experienced as far as "on ear" headphones go. It's VERY comfortable. Most "on ear" are that crappy leather material that eventually leaves your ear lobes feeling bruised and tired after 8 hours. Not these. Very cool material, pun intended and very very soft and adaptable to your ears (left or right).

Sennheiser you hit the nail on the head here. IF you could make the microphone a bit better noise cancelling that would be good but honestly anything more would probably compromise the beautiful quality of the microphone on this headset, so forget it. :)

Totally worth $35 and the reviews where people say the cable lasted 1 year with heavy daily use still seems extremely reasonable at the price point. If I get 1 year or more out of this headset I'll order another. Fantastic.

High quality for fat heads and sound snobs

I teach on my computer every day with VIPKID and I've got headphones on for several hours straight each day. Standard headphone/microphone sets hurt my head (history of hats-don't-fit-my-fat-head and also migraines). I knew I wanted quality sound but I also didn't want to end up with a headache every day. These were the PERFECT solution. This is actually my second pair. (I'm a nervous hand twiddler and my first year of teaching, I twiddled with the cord to these headphone. I eventually wrapped it into a spiral so tight that the wires broke through. It took a year though and it was a constant tic. I now have a stress ball and new headphones--but I bought the exact same ones because they're THAT good.) I recommend them to all my fellow VIPKID teachers!!

Perfect for small heads

I've had these for a while but only recently started to use them. They work okay, I can hear the people on the other end of the wire and they can hear me, so they do what they say they'll do.

But honestly, I have them cranked open as large as they'll go and they are only just barely large enough. The microphone boom could stand to be an inch or two longer, so it reached the front of my mouth rather than my hovering uselessly over my cheek.

But I know, plastic costs money, and okay, maybe I have an unusually large head. I'm not ruling that out. My history with hats leads me to believe that my melon may well be larger than the average human's. Is that a sign of superior intelligence? It would be immodest of me to suggest as much, but I think we all know that it's probably true.

I'll leave that for the scientists to settle, but until they do, I'd only recommend this headset for people of average to low intelligence. If you're bright, above average, or exceptional, it probably won't fit comfortably.

I am going to admit, I am a Sennheiser Apostle.. I really love their product.. I am a performing musician and have long left Shure microphones behind.. I have a few Audix mics I use for drums.. For Vocal mics, I will take a Sennheiser 835 (a $100 mic) over a Shure Beta 58 ($160 mic) anyday..

When I needed to purchase a headset for my job so that I could make and receive calls from my laptop. I was overjoyed to know that Sennheiser made a product for this.

Sound is crystal clear and the microphone does a wonderful job.. Skip the off names and go for this product!!

is it really durable.. Well.. I can't say that it would take a ton of abuse but I keep my right in my laptop bag and have not had any issues

Extraordinarios, una calidad de voz excepcional y una gran cancelación de eco.

Elimina casi todo el ruido de fondo, incluso el llanto de un bebé, deja pasar pequeñas vibraciones pero cuando estoy en llamada por Skype nadie percibe que se trata de un llanto.

Buenos materiales y para la calidad vale la pena pagar el precio. Me gustaron tanto que compré la versión inalámbrica.

Los recomiendo para usar con voip, Softphone, Skype o programas de dictado, super cómodos.

It seems to be a great headset for light use. It has a foam ear cover that is not very comfortable (may be worth buying a different ear cover). It is lightweight and would be great for skype etc. As far as work from home it doesn't seem like it would last or be flexible enough or comfortable enough to wear for several hours per day. Other than that it is a nice headset.
