It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel the WordCamp Genève on March 21st, or at least postpone it for about 6 months, subject to an overall improvement of the « coronavirus » situation.

We saw this morning the Swiss government’s decision to ban large-scale events involving more than 1000 people. This has led to the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show, and we have the feeling that such measures could also be extended to smaller events, including our WordCamp.

Considering that this event gathers people coming from a multitude of different places and that cases of coronavirus have appeared in Geneva, it is our responsibility to think first about the safety of all. We, therefore, decided to postpone the WordCamp.

Should the global epidemic situation be resolved (virus contained and/or vaccine/treatment available), the WordCamp could be postponed to next autumn.

We are in permanent contact with the WordCamp Community Support (WPCS, the foundation at the head of all events), with whom we will talk about the different steps to follow. If you are a speaker or sponsor, please reply to this email and let us know if you plan to maintain your participation (depending on the new date).

If you have travel and/or accommodation booking fees, the foundation can provide an official letter for you to present to those vendors, mentioning the event has been cancelled/postponed.

For all those who have purchased a standard ticket for CHF 25.00 or a microsponsor ticket for CHF 150.00, you can decide if you want to keep the ticket for the autumn event or if you want to be refunded.

We thank you for your understanding and support. We sincerely hope that a postponement of the WordCamp Genève 2020 will be possible. We wish everyone well.

WordCamp Zurich 2019

We’re delighted to announce that the next Swiss WordPress Conference will be held on Saturday, 14th September at Technopark! After visiting several other cities like Bern, Geneva and Lausanne, the event is returning to Zurich for the first time since 2015.

Here in Switzerland, regular WordCamps and Meetups bring people together from all over: not just the French-, Italian- and German-speaking parts of the country, but from all over Europe.

The community around WordPress is one of the system’s greatest strengths, and the worldwide WordCamps give developers, designers, managers and content producers the opportunity to meet, learn from one another, and improve both their own projects and WordPress itself.

WordCamp Switzerland 2015

What is a WordCamp?

WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences that focus on everything WordPress. Each WordCamp is different, reflecting the local WordPress community it represents, but usually a wide range of people from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other.

WordCamps are non-profit events, organized by people from within the community on a voluntary basis. In addition to WordCamps, there are regular meetups in Swiss towns and cities which continue to build a strong sense of community.

Code of Conduct

WordCamp Zurich’s top priority is the safety of, and respect for, all those who attend. If you see something that isn’t right, let us know. If you’re not sure whether you should mention something or not, then you can refer to our Code of Conduct/Verhaltenskodex.

WordCamp Lausanne 2018

After Zurich in 2014 and 2015, Geneva in 2016, and Bern in 2017, Lausanne will host the 5th WordCamp in Switzerland on September 28 and 29, 2018

The conference day will take place Saturday 29th September, it will be a bilingual English-French event. And the Contributor Day will be held on Friday 28th September. Contributor days are a great way to learn how to contribute to the WordPress open source project.

The organization team needs help to make a WordCamp happen. Welcoming visitors, helping to serve food, etc.. Motivated ? Join them! To make sure the WordCamp experience will be great for everyone.

Global WordPress Translation Day 3

WPTranslationDay 3 is a 24-hour global event dedicated to the translation of the WordPress ecosystem (core, themes, plugins).

It’s a unique and innovative event, a cool mix of digital and physical: the international community of the WP Polyglots will meet at the same time locally and digitally for a 24-hour translating marathon that will provide inspiration and training to both coders and translators on localizing and internationalizing through live talks and local meetups.

And this year the celebration is double: September 30 has also been designated as International Translation Day by the United Nations!

WordCamp Bern 2017

We’re happy to announce that the next Swiss WordCamp is going to be held in Bern this autumn! The organizers have been able to secure the UniS conference location, near Bern’s main train station, and we’d love it if you could join us on Saturday, September 9.

This website will be regularly updated as more details are confirmed over the coming months, including speaker submissions, ticket sales and more! We’re also arranging a Contributor Day for Friday, September 8.

If you’d like to keep up-to-date via social media, you can follow @wordcampbern on Twitter, on Facebook, or in the WordPress Switzerland Slack channel.

Call for Sponsors

WordCamps are non-profit events, organized by people from within the community on a voluntary basis. Regular meetups in Swiss towns and cities like Bern, Luzern, Zurich and Geneva all contribute towards a strong sense of community, and Swiss WordCamps give local and international friends and colleagues the opportunity to participate, share ideas, get to know each other, and exchange knowledge and ideas about how to improve WordPress and the sites it powers.

To help make WordCamp Bern 2017 a success, we’re looking for sponsors.

Call for Speakers

We are looking for speakers to share their knowledge, skill, experience and stories within our welcoming community at WordCamp Bern on 9th September 2017. Maybe you know about theme and plugin development, or perhaps you’ve created a great platform using WordPress.

All topics and ideas are welcome: we only ask that you follow these guidelines when choosing your topic.

  • Your proposal should be related to WordPress, or immediately applicable and relevant to our WordPress audience.
  • Your proposal should be respectful of the WordPress community, the WordCamp code of conduct, and the GPL.

Call for Organisers

We have secured a venue and date for the next Swiss WordCamp in Bern. We need a bit more help to be able to make this a great event. We need help with the following items:

We also need help with organizing the event.

  • As a little thank you to the speakers, sponsors and volunteers we will organizing a dinner of Friday evening before the event. We need help organising this event too.
  • So that everyone knows about the event we need some marketing. This would involve helping with regular social media, writing posts and getting articles in the local newspapers.

If would like to help out contact the organization team via email.

WordPress Global Translation Day

Am 24. April 2016 ist übrigens Global WordPress Translation Day. WordPress Global Translation Day is 1 full day dedicated to bringing WordPress to more people around the world. 24 hours of live training sessions on WordPress i18n & L10n.
