Bio

I love my family, technology, and elegant expressions of code poetry. Good typography in design makes my brain do a little happy dance. I also help run the WordPress Columbus Meetup group and have assisted in running WordCamp Columbus for the past few years. Oh, and I also lead the Shopp e-commerce plugin development.

WordPress Origin Story

As a web designer and developer in the late 90’s I cut my teeth on table-based designs. In 2000 I started developing sites with PHP. By 2005 I was tired of copying code over and over. I knew I needed a better framework for deploying projects. I began writing my own CMS framework when I came across WordPress. It was the obvious answer.

My first project with WordPress I wrote a custom theme and several plugins. From that point on I was **hooked** (I love hooks).

In 2008, I had an e-commerce project land in my lap and although I was confident WordPress could handle the job, I couldn’t find a suitable plugin for my project requirements. I rolled my own in 3 months which became the basis for the Shopp project.
