🇺🇸 USA top the medals table with 13 golds and 33 medals in total.
Behind, 🇪🇹 Ethiopia, 🇯🇲 Jamaica & 🇰🇪 Kenya win 10 medals each.
🇬🇧 Britain win 1 gold, 1 silver & 5 bronze medals for 7 in total and a decent World Champs performance. #Oregon2022

As a commentator my job is to comment. In questioning the times of 28 athletes (not 1 athlete) by wondering if the timing system malfunctioned, I was attacked, accused of racism, and of questioning the talent of an athlete I respect and predicted to win. Unacceptable. I move on.

Heat 2 we were first shown winning time of 12.53. Few seconds later it shows 12.43. Rounding down by .01 is normal. .10 is not.

I don’t believe 100h times are correct. World record broken by .08! 12 PBs set. 5 National records set. And Cindy Sember quote after her PB/NR “I throughly I was running slow!” All athletes looked shocked.

Men global superstar athletes come primarily from Soccer, NFL, NBA, Tennis, Golf, & F1. Women global superstar athletes come primarily from Tennis and that’s about it. I wonder if that’s opportunity for track and field.

Question below about Sydney McLaughlin going under 50. This would ORDINARILY be a stupid question! I can’t say she can but I can’t say she can’t!

This is possibly a stupid Q but could she realistically dip below 50 seconds in the 400 hurdles?

Relays always a team effort but first leg was crucial, followed by great baton exchanges! Great team effort to defeat a Jamaican team of real GOATs!

WA and the entire sport of track and field have been a leader on gender equal pay, long before other sports were pressured to do so. 👏

A big shoutout to @WorldAthletics for ensuring the equality of World Record bonuses. There is a corporate sponsor for the men’s events but not the women’s. WA filled the gap.
Calling all companies! This could be your time to shine!

17 year old Sydney McLaughlin below. Lesson here: Knowing what you want and importantly, what it takes to get it, can be extremely valuable to achieving goals!

Will always remember what Sydney McLaughlin told @LewisJohnsonMG at 2016 Olympics, when she was 17 years old, eliminated in 400m hurdles semifinals. "If I want to earn mine, I have to work a little bit harder." She ran 56.22 in Rio. She ran 50.68 tonight.

Wow! Anne Zagre of Belgium was impeded by another athlete in 100h heats so was given opportunity to run on her own to try to qualify for semi-final. She fell at the last hurdle. This sport can be brutal!

I froze and analyzed footage from and found Knighton hunched over to stay low, but that reduces force (equals speed) in the drive phase vs Noah. His coach will fix this.

Sydney McLaughlin’s WR barely makes ESPN Top 10!This is the problem! And criticizing ESPN won’t change anything. Demand better from WA and USATF. 👇🏾

Our sport has a ways to go. The Good: @GoSydGo 50.68 makes @SportsCenter Top 10. The Bad: Clocked in at #10 (Minor League Baseball #1), Credit to IAAF (which hasn't existed since 2019). @WorldAthletics #WCHOregon22

Sydney McLaughlin says she will decide whether to continue 400 hurdles or switch to another event, possibly the 400 flat. Her coach previously said she will switch to 400 flat. Can’t wait!

100% on this! This is incoming runner’s responsibility. Relay teams should be practicing “2nd pass” Always a good chance 1st pass could be unsuccessful.

Mens 400. Norman should win BUT he often gets it wrong and falters. Wade has to adjust his strategy to his current fitness but so far hasn’t. Allison may be tired and leaves it very late but will be coming. Kirani will medal no matter what. Matt has been steady. Race is open!

People asking how lanes are drawn. Typically, athletes are seeded 1-8 based on time/place from semi-finals. 1-4 seeds random draw for lanes 3,4,5,6. 5-8 seeds random draw for lanes 1,2,7,8.
14

Read the tweet carefully. It does NOT say you can’t run fast in the outer lanes. I’ve done it! Wade told me he changed strategy for the outside lane in Rio. The point is if you draw outside and don’t know what change to make and how to execute it, it can be disastrous.

Lanes do matter. Most sprinters compete differently when they can see competitors vs when they cannot. In addition to race strategy execution, you still must balance that with competing! Harder to compete against what you cannot see.

Lane assignments work in favor of Dina for medal, Shericka to win, and Tamara for PB. Against Steiner to win or possible against even a medal if still fatigued. Lane draw inconsequential for Shelly-Ann to medal.
