Researchers develop new biomarker test to track success of therapy for neurodegenerative disease

Researchers led by Prof Adrian Isaacs (UK DRI Group Leader at UCL) have developed a way to monitor the success of therapies targeting the most common genetic cause of frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

UK DRI at King's spin-out receives £56M investment for gene therapy in Frontotemporal dementia

Co-founded by Prof Chris Shaw (UK DRI at King's), AviadoBio will use a patented gene therapy platform to develop innovative treatments for people living with neurodegenerative diseases. If successful, these treatments have the potential to permanently correct faulty genes, transforming the lives of individuals affected.

We study a range of neurodegenerative disorders that cause dementia. Many of them share fundamental disease mechanisms and characteristics, and greater understanding gained in one can often benefit others.
