Our History

ZERO TO THREE has a significant track record in turning the science of early development into helpful resources, practical tools and responsive policies for millions of parents, professionals, and policymakers.

Since launching in 1977 as the National Center for Clinical Infant Programs, ZERO TO THREE has grown to more than 160 employees working on a wide range of issues impacting infants, toddlers, young children and their families. By bringing together leaders in the fields of medicine, mental health, social science research, child development and community leadership, we have built a strong reputation for delivering quality programs, products and services to millions nationwide and across the globe.

ZERO TO THREE has influenced significant change and experienced tremendous growth since launching in 1977.

Today, people are connected to our work through many of our successful programs, including Healthy Steps, the Safe Babies Court Team™* Project and the National Center on Early Childhood Development, Teaching, and Learning. We produce best-selling books and resources for parents and professionals, including the Zero to Three Journal, DC:0-5, Don’t Hit My Mommy! and the Magic of Everyday Moments. And since 2000, we advocate and #Rally4Babies on behalf of infants and toddlers through our influential ZERO TO THREE Policy Network.
