How do the XML Sitemaps in the Yoast SEO plugin work?

Having an XML sitemap can be beneficial for SEO, as Google can retrieve essential pages of a website very fast, even if the internal linking of a site isn’t flawless.
The sitemap index and individual sitemaps are updated automatically as you add or remove content and will include the post types you want search engines to index. Post Types marked as noindex will not appear in the sitemap. Learn more about XML Sitemaps.

How can I add my website to Google Search Console?

It is straightforward to add your website to Google Search Console.
1. Create a Google Search Console account and login into your account.
2. Click ‘Add a property’ under the search drop-down.
3. Enter your website URL in the box and click ‘Continue’.
4. Click the arrow next to ‘HTML tag’ to expand the option.
5. Copy the meta tag.
6. Log in to your WordPress website.
7. Click on ‘SEO’ in the dashboard.
8. Click on ‘General’.
9. Click on the ‘Webmaster Tools’ tab.
10. Paste the code in the Google field and click ‘Save Changes’.
11. Go back to Google Search Console and click ‘Verify’.

How do I implement Yoast SEO breadcrumbs?

The steps below are a temporary solution as manual edits made to theme files may be overwritten with future theme updates. Please contact the theme developer for a permanent solution. We’ve written an article about the importance of breadcrumbs for SEO.

To implement the breadcrumbs function in Yoast SEO, you will have to edit your theme. We recommend that prior to any editing of the theme files, a backup is taken. Your host provider can help you take a backup.
Copy the following code into your theme where you want the breadcrumbs to be. If you are not sure, you will need to experiment with placement:

Common places where you could place your breadcrumbs are inside your single.php and/or page.php file just above the page’s title. Another option that makes it really easy in some themes is by just pasting the code in header.php at the very end.

In most non-WooTheme themes, this code snippet should not be added to your functions.php file.
Alternatively, you can manually add the breadcrumb shortcode to individual posts or pages: [wpseo_breadcrumb]

GO ELSEWHERE! There are better solutions, these have totally lost their way!

You spend time debugging an issue, then go to them with the problem and ask them to fix it or provide a solution and they 1) Say it's s feature request, when it is not and is clearly something they have been made aware of over 2 years ago and fail to fix as IT"S A BUG IN THEIR LOGIC, and... 2) They then suggest you pay a third party to fix it, OR ... 3) Provide solutions that are fictional and will never fix the bug. If I had known 2 years ago the number of problems their plugin creates I would have used another.. as we have done on every site we have built since! Stay away! Oh and this is premium, not free. Chaos! Oh and their phone number +31 (0)24 82 00 337 - not for support, but because I wanted to raise a complaint - constantly engaged! Says it all really!

Hello world, this Plugin is not Good for your business, Reasons are; 1) they have many plugin to be installed like 5 plugins i.e WordPress SEO plugin at $99/y, Yoast Local SEO plugin at $79, Yoast Video SEO plugin at $79, Yoast News SEO plugin at $79, Yoast WooCommerce SEO plugin at $79 and other more. Too Bad after making payment ffrom above and you get disappointment. SAY NO TO CONMEN PROVIDER 2) rude customer support 3) others stay away from this making seo, it will let you down . plz avoid it. does not perform at all.

Breaks my site

The Plugin is installed on my site quite a while but when I activate it, it redirects all URLS to one old Blogpost. When I recreate the permalinks it is fixed only for a while.. 🙁

Solid SEO Improvement, Traffic Increased

Since installation of this software I have nothing but praise. Noticed traffic increased on my posts, and it provides an excellent guide on what to do to improve your settings. Combine this with Monster Insights and you can really gain organic traffic easily. Went from getting 4 views per day on my best days to hitting 120 hits a day on post days. This did take SEO work efforts on my behalf and going all the way with every setting. My posts easily get 35 hits in their first month, and my better content exceeds 100 in the first month. And things are still improving! Note: Make sure to get others to endorse your site by posting your URL on theirs. Helps with SEO boosting. Also, don't forget to post your content in more than your site (i.e. Youtube, social media, etc.). That helps a ton!
