A huge thank you to the University of Stirling in Scotland for granting me an honorary doctorate. Learning and research are the basis of all our work to protect the planet and the oceans for future generations.
This year marks my 35th year of endurance swimming and ocean advocacy.
So I'm especially delighted to be receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of Stirling 🏴👨🎓💚
Congratulations to our inspirational honorary graduands: endurance swimmer & oceans advocate

The Thames now has a “wet wipe island." It's so big that it is diverting the river! Wet wipes contain plastic and don't degrade, which is why they also block sewers and drains. Please stop flushing wet wipes!

#WorldOceansDay
#WorldOceansDay to deliver a clear message to world leaders about the impact of +1.5°C on our oceans. The effects are unthinkable and we cannot ignore this crisis for any longer.
A family of freedivers encountered an endangered whale shark entangled in a loop of heavy rope—so armed with a 4-inch dive knife, the father dove to cut it free.
"Losing entire ecosystems represents a tipping point for biodiversity loss - the exponential jump from losing species individually to losing them in their hundreds of thousands"
LGIM is proud to partner with @LewisPugh the United Nations Ambassador for the Oceans.
Together we celebrate #WorldOceanDay and we are united in our aim to tackle the climate crisis. More details on Lewis’s next climate-focused swim will be shared in September
The science is that at 1.5°C warming, 70% of coral reefs disappear. At 2°C warming, 99% of coral reefs disappear.
It's now up to all of us to do everything we can to avoid these awful scenarios.
Thank you Tom. With everything else happening in the world right now, I believe that potentially losing 99% of all coral reefs in our lifetime is a story that deserves all the attention we can give it. 🙏

I’m in New York for #WorldOceansDay on Wednesday. This is my preferred mode of transport, of course 🏊🏻😎
I’ll be launching a short video with an important message at the UN.
A true underdog story: This sea turtle successfully evaded the jaws of a tiger shark.
Photographer Declan DeHaas captured the stunning overhead footage off the coast of Western Australia and confirmed the turtle ultimately made it to shore safely. Nature is awesome.
4.5 trillion cigarettes are discarded every year worldwide. They are now the ocean's largest source of trash. If you smoke, please dispose of your filters safely 🌊❌🚬#WNTD2022
If we act together, the renewable energy transformation can be the peace project of the 21st century.
Every country, city and citizen, every financial institution, company and civil society organization has a role to play.
The only sustainable future is a renewable one.
Biodiversity used to be about abundance. Now it is about loss. We need to take a step back and realise just what we are doing to the animal kingdom. #BiodiversityDay
If everyone lived like the UK, the global #EarthOvershootDay would be today, and we would need 2.6 earths to sustainably cover our resource needs.
When is your country's Overshoot Day? 🌎🌍🌏
