Making a Donation of Cryptocurrency to GiveWell’s Maximum Impact Fund or Our Top Charities

Thanks for your interest in donating cryptocurrency to GiveWell!

Cryptocurrency donations are non-refundable in most cases, and we sell them for USD shortly after we receive them. If you have any questions about how to donate cryptocurrency, please email us at donations@givewell.org before making your donation.

Please complete our cryptocurrency donation form below prior to sending your coins to the appropriate wallet listed on the right. Doing so will:

  • enable us to match your contact information with crypto we receive and send you a receipt;
  • allow you to specify your preference for how we allocate your donation; and
  • reduce the administrative cost associated with processing your donation.

Donations received without an accompanying donation form submission will be treated as anonymous donations to our unrestricted fund, which we may use to either support our operating expenses (most likely) or grant out to charities at our discretion.

Please note that GiveWell’s wallets are managed by Coinbase, and they may not be compatible with smart contracts, mirror essays, or other special arrangements.

We can currently accept donations of the cryptocurrencies listed below. After completing this form, please use our wallet addresses listed on the right side of this page to complete your transfer (you’ll still be able to see them after you complete the form). Please make sure to copy the wallet addresses exactly, as donations sent to the wrong wallet will be lost permanently.

We currently accept the following cryptocurrencies:

  • 0x (ZRX)
  • Augur (REP)
  • Basic Attention Token (BAT)
  • Bitcoin (BTC)
  • Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
  • Cardano (ADA)
  • Dash (DASH)
  • Ethereum (ETH)
  • Ethereum Classic (ETC)
  • Internet Computer (ICP)
  • Litecoin (LTC)
  • Maker (MKR)
  • Solana (SOL)
  • Tether (USDT)
  • USD Coin (USDC)

If you would like to donate in a cryptocurrency not listed above, please email us at donations@givewell.org. We can generally create wallets for other types of coins supported on Coinbase.
