Top baby boys’ names of 2021

The time has come to reveal the most popular names of the year! We’ve analysed the data and crunched the numbers and we’ve got the top 100 baby boys’ names of 2021 as picked by BabyCenter Australia parents. There’s been a change at the top of the chart and lots of ups and downs along with it. Check out our full rundown of the top baby names this year.

Australia’s most popular baby boy names in 2021

Oliver returned to the top spot after a fall to second place in 2020. The second spot was taken by last year’s most popular name Noah. Elsewhere at the top of the charts, Jack held strong in third position and there were two new entries to the top 10 as Liam climbed nine places to number 10 and Levi rose four places to number nine.

There were 13 new entries to the boys’ chart this year. Owen was the highest ranking of the newbies, bursting into the charts in 59th position. Mateo, Ryder, Finley, Wyatt, Felix, Leon, Freddie and Leonardo all joined the chart between 60th and 90th position. And four of the new entries just crept in, all sitting between 90 and 100 in the charts with Vincent at number 91, Alex at number 92, Bailey at number 98 and Tyler at number 100. Could these names continue to rise next year?

This year’s highest climber was Tommy which soared a whopping 37 positions to number 53. The other names that skyrocketed this year were Lincoln up 25 to number 23, Kai up 20 to number 37 and Beau up 20 to number 48. Also making strides in popularity were Max, Alexander, Finn, Benjamin, Hugo, Riley, Ollie, Sonny, Michael and Jordan.

And where there were highs, there were also lows. The biggest fall in the chart this year was Aiden which plummeted 34 places to number 66. Aiden wasn’t alone, as four names fell by more than 20 places this year with Ryan down 25 to 65, Toby down 23 to 86, Daniel down 20 to 94 and Alfie down 21 to 99. Other names taking a nosedive in the rankings for 2021 were Mason, Cooper, Harry, Lachlan, Louis, Joshua, Logan, Connor, Austin, Patrick, Jude, Nate, Adam, Jayden and Bodhi.
