This decision is in response to Governor Gavin Newsom’s announcement recommending gatherings
with 250 people or more should be rescheduled or canceled, and smaller events should proceed only
if the organizers can implement six feet of social distancing in order to protect public health and slow
the spread of COVID-19. See PIN.

Mandated Reporter Training

Defining Child Abuse: Under the Act, when the victim is a child (a person under the age of 18) and the perpetrator is any person (including a child), the following types of abuse must be reported by all legally mandated reporters: Physical injury, sexual abuse, cruelty, injury, neglect, other.

If your profession is one that falls in the category of a mandated reporter, you are required to report suspected abuse to local child protective authorities. To fail to do so constitutes a crime. This requirement applies to:

• Physical abuse
• Neglect
• Sexual abuse
• Some forms of emotional abuse

The Child Care Licensing Division (CCLD) requires Child Abuse Mandated Reporter Training for everyone who works in a licensed child care facility.
This is a free, online training which meets the requirements of AB 1207.

**Child Care Providers are required to take this training and exam in order to satisfy the requirement. The General Training will not satisfy the Child Care Worker requirement.

**Exemptions: A licensed child care provider or applicant for that license or an administrator or employee of a licensed child care facility is exempt from the training if he or she has limited English proficiency and the training is not made available to him or her in his or her primary language. Once the training is made available in their primary language, they are required to take the training.

California Health & Safety Training

With funding from the California Department of Education, our California Health and Safety Training Program coordinates CPR, First Aid, and Preventive Health training.

Health and safety trainings are made available that are certified by the American Red Cross or the California Emergency Medical Services Authority and include:

CPR, First Aid, Preventive Health, and Babysitter Training.  Additional trainings offered to the community may include: Disaster Preparedness, Poison Prevention, and Eco Healthy Child Care.
