IPA Peru has been leading field-based randomized evaluations since 2003. Our work in Peru is defined by strong engagement with key decision-makers and foundational research in: education, gender-based violence, social protection, financial inclusion, and health.


IPA Peru was the site of one of the six Ultra Poor Graduation studies which showed strong impacts of the graduation model on the well-being of the poorest of the poor across all six countries. The Peru team has launched some of our first official research collaborations with governments and local academics, taking a co-creation approach with policymakers to build buy-in into the process of generating and using evidence. These collaborations include the Quipu Commission and the first embedded lab with the Ministry of Education, which in 2016 became the MineduLAB.

In addition, IPA Peru leads evaluations in Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay, and across Central America, including in Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Panama. Questions regarding research in this region can be directed to the IPA Peru team.
