IPA Malawi opened in 2010 in response to a demand for high quality impact evaluations in the country. Much of our research in Malawi has been in partnership with national or local government, and has focused on the sectors of agriculture, education, health, and financial inclusion. From exploring the impact of knowledge sharing among farmers to evaluating ways to expand credit access to the poor, our 20 research projects have aimed to address challenges of national concern.
IPA is also supporting the scale-up of proven interventions in Malawi. With the full support of the Reserve Bank of Malawi, we are working with the Malawi Microfinance Network to expand biometric technology to microfinance institutions nationwide. We are also working with the Ministry of Health and Water and our close partner, Evidence Action, to support the nationwide implementation of chlorine dispensers at water sources.
