This prosecution is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to human rights violations against Uyghurs, Kazakhs and other Muslims in Xinjiang, but it provides a snapshot of how the Chinese government’s machine of repression is operating 👇
A Uyghur student is set to go on trial for “separatism in the city of Urumqi on Tuesday in what appears to be the latest example of the Chinese government’s strategy to unlawfully imprison Muslims in the country’s Xinjiang region.
A reminder: Forcing someone to carry an unwanted pregnancy, or forcing them to seek out an unsafe abortion, is a violation of their human rights, including the rights to privacy and bodily autonomy.
This treatment is in stark contrast to the benevolence with which people fleeing the war in Ukraine have been received in the EU. This raises serious concerns about institutional racism embedded within Lithuania’s migration system 👇
Refugees and migrants have been held for months on end in prison-like centres in Lithuania, where they are denied access to fair asylum procedures and subjected to serious human rights violations in the hope that they will ‘voluntarily’ return to the countries they fled from.
Millions of people who can become pregnant in the United States now face a future where they will not be able to make deeply personal choices that affect their bodies.
We have been released from detention. We repeat, once again, from in front of the Istanbul branch of our Human Rights Association: Galatasaray Square belongs to us-as relatives of the disappeared & rights’ defenders, we will never abandon our struggle! #CumartesiAnneleri900Hafta
Police handcuffed and detained the head of the Human Rights Association, Öztürk Türkdoğan, prominent human rights lawyer, Eren Keskin, and several relatives of victims of enforced disappearances from the Saturday Mothers/People.
Police have detained human rights defenders and relatives of disappeared people on Saturday Mothers/People 900th vigil. The vigil convened today for the 900th time in Istanbul’s Galatasaray Square.
Riot police surrounding the relatives of victims of enforced disappearances and other human rights defenders as well as some members of parliament to prevent their peaceful weekly vigil, marking 900 weeks of protest today. #CumartesiAnneleri900Hafta
Peaceful protest is a right.
We stand with the family and friends of those who were killed, injured and everyone who has been affected in Oslo. We should all be able to feel safe, no matter who we are and who we love.

Let’s be clear on the facts now that #RoeVsWade has been overturned:
It is deeply racist, sexist & classist.
People will be forced to give birth.
People will be forced to seek unsafe abortions.
US Supreme Court strikes down #RoeVsWade, which for 50 year has protected the right to legal abortion in the #USA.
This racist, draconian and shameful decision will force women, girls and people who can become pregnant to seek unsafe abortions.
A very sad day for human rights
Millions of people who can become pregnant in the United States now face a future where they will not be able to make deeply personal choices that affect their bodies, their future, and the well-being of their families.
People will be forced to give birth. They’ll be forced to seek unsafe abortions. This is the outcome of a decades-long campaign to control the bodies of women, girls, and people who can become pregnant.
Today marks a grim milestone in the history of the United States as the Supreme Court has overturned #RoeVsWade and stripped Americans of the right to an abortion.
It is worth repeating: By overturning Roe v. Wade, the US Supreme Court will not stop abortions. It is forcing them again to the back alleys. It is permitting the "lawful" killing of women, girls, and other persons, particularly racialised, poorest, most vulnerable.
The United States Supreme Court has ruled to end protections to the right to abortion.  It’s clear: the United States is regressing when it comes to right to abortion care.
The flawed military trial of 14 low-ranking security officers will not bring about justice. There needs to be a civilian trial following international standards, not just a smokescreen to protect those higher up.
Justice remains elusive one year on from the death of Nizar Banat, a Palestinian activist who died shortly after he was arrested and brutally assaulted by Palestinian security forces in June 2021.

Today, the Supreme Court issued a ruling that struck down a New York state law requiring individuals to show “proper cause before being given a permit to carry concealed firearms in public.
The results of this ruling could be catastrophic.
Americans have watched in horror as people armed with guns and large-capacity magazines terrorize American communities year after year, with growing frequency.
A few weeks ago, in Buffalo, NY, an armed 18-year-old entered a grocery store in a predominantly Black community and killed 10 people, injuring many more. In Uvalde, TX, an 18-year-old entered an elementary school and murdered 19 children and two teachers.
None of this is new 🧵
According to a review of a Jeddah Municipality document, with a timeline of development plans dating back to 2019, the demolitions affect more than 558,000 residents.
We at Amnesty are calling on the authorities to end forced evictions!
Saudi Arabia's large-scale demolition and eviction plan in part to achieve Vision 2030 violates international human rights standards and discriminates against foreign nationals.
