Renowned for its patient care, Stanford Medicine is the site of the first successful human heart transplant in the country and the first combined heart-lung transplant in the world.

Stanford Health Care is a leading academic health system, delivering clinical innovation across its inpatient services, specialty health centers, physician offices, virtual care offerings and health plan programs. As the only Level I trauma center Stanford Health Care opened the doors to the new StanfordHospital in 2019. between San Francisco and San Jose, Stanford Health Care provides compassionate, coordinated care, personalized for the unique needs of every patient. In November 2019, Stanford Health Care’s new 824,000-square-foot state-of the-art hospital opened, bringing its total bed count to 604 and total operating rooms to 70. With more than 2,800 medical staff and more than 1,300 residents and fellows, Stanford Health Care is committed to providing the highest quality care to patients and their families.

Stanford Children’s Health, with Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford at its center, is the Bay Area’s largest health care system exclusively dedicated to children and expectant mothers. Our network of care includes more than 65 locations across Northern California and more than 85 locations in the U.S. Western region. As part of Stanford Medicine, we are cultivating the next generation of medical professionals and are at the forefront of scientific research to improve children’s health outcomes around the world. We are a nonprofit organization committed to supporting the community through meaningful outreach programs and services and providing necessary medical care to families, regardless of their ability to pay.
