The Police Report Log contains several fields of data. From left to right, those fields are:
Case #: a sequential unique number identifying the event
Date: the date the event was reported to police
Time: the time the event was reported to police, using a 24-hour clock
Offense: the type of event or primary type of crime
Location: the location of the event. Note that reports that receive confidentiality protections under state law (for example, child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and so forth) will not include a specific address.
Arrestee Information: If police arrested an adult associated with the case, all of the arrestee fields will be completed (full name, date of birth, gender, race, city of residence, arrest charges, and whether they were cited or booked into jail). If police arrested someone under 18 years old associated with the case, the notation "Juvenile" will appear in the name field. Juveniles receive confidentiality protections under state law and no additional information identifying them will appear on the report log.
If you would like to look up the state arrest charges to see what they are, visit the State of California Legislative Information page and enter the criminal code (typically Penal Code or Health & Safety Code) and the numerical code section. If you would like to look up municipal code arrest charges (denoted by "PAMC" in the arrestee charges field), visit the Palo Alto Municipal Code online and navigate to the appropriate section.
