Participate in Cool Block
My neighborhood. My planet.
Imagine a Palo Alto where neighbors are living sustainably, are disaster resilient, and working together to solve problems. With Cool Block Palo Alto, we are creating a healthier, happier, more resilient and more environmentally aware community -- and show the world that it can be done.
The non-profit Cool Block engages a team of neighbors living on a block (or in an apartment building) to tackle the most critical issues of our time - climate change, a fraying social fabric and disaster resiliency - by providing a structured approach to making meaningful and lasting changes in our community as well as building our capacity to achieve large goals in a short time period. Cool Blocks have proven to be a vital method of connecting neighbors in times of needs such as the current pandemic.
During the next 12 months, the City is engaging in two projects in partnership with Cool Block to:
- Help the City of Palo Alto Utilities understand the inhibitors and accelerators to home electrification. Cool Block will tap into existing Cool Block teams, as well as other interested Palo Alto residents, to conduct a survey and focus groups on residential electrification. If you would like to participate in this data gathering process please send an email by September 1, 2020 to coolblock@cityofpaloalto.org
- Launch 25 new Cool Blocks with an additional focus on residential electrification. Cool block teams will be organized and meeting whe the Santa Clara County Public Health determines that it is safe to do so. In the meantime, please send an email to coolblock@cityofpaloalto.org to join our waitlist and get early access to Information Meetings and Training on the Cool Block Palo Alto Program for these 25 new blocks
