Trademarks & Licensing

We protect and promote the University of Arizona brand.

The International Collegiate Licensing Association (ICLA) named The University of Arizona Trademarks & Licensing program its 2020 Synergy Award winner.

For the third year in a row, the Trademarks & Licensing program was named a Finalist for the 2021 Operation Hat Trick (OHT) Excellence in Service honor for commitment to recovering U.S. service members and veterans.

The Trademarks & Licensing office exists to protect and promote the marks, names and logos of the University of Arizona.

Trademarks are critical to the integrity of our brand. For instance, when an unlicensed vendor uses our logo on cheap merchandise or on product produced under environments that do not adhere to the University of Arizona codes of conduct, our brand value shifts accordingly. Trademarks appreciate in value over time, making it easier for the university to differentiate itself from competitors, attract and retain talent, and expand services.

Through a partnership with IMG Collegiate Licensing, this office monitors commercial and internal use of the university's indicia and is responsible for managing more than 300 licensees producing products bearing the institution's logos.

Revenues generated through the Trademarks & Licensing program are used to support and enhance the quality of life on our campus.
