Big News: Union activity in the US is skyrocketing. The number of filings for union elections is up 56% this fiscal year compared to 2021, new data from the NLRB shows. As of May 25, petitions for union elections this fiscal year 2022 has surpassed 2021.

We know that threatening political rhetoric has the power to incite those with violent tendencies to use hate speech as an invitation for violence. We can disagree with public figures, but we cannot allow fear or intimidation to have any place in our democratic process.

We strongly condemn the extremist, racially charged threats of violence against at her home in West Seattle this past weekend. We are glad she is safe. Words have consequences, and our labor movement has zero tolerance for threatening language or hate crimes.

The Harper Union is made up of ~250 junior and mid-level employees across editorial, design, marketing, publicity, sales, legal, and managing ed. We make books, and we make books happen. But we've been reporting to work without a contract for almost 3 months now. 🧵
