Background

Whether bringing people together to volunteer, improving a child's education, fighting child abuse, or creating a safe environment for a family to live together, there are over 100,000 nonprofits that strive to help low-income children and families. These organizations help by providing services for children who have suffered abuse, neglect, abandonment, and homelessness in order to help them gain self-sufficiency and stability in their lives. They may have gang members or prison inmates as parents or perhaps they are just not receiving the guidance they need at such a young age from a competent role model. No matter what the circumstance is, these organizations will provide troubled kids with shelter and support.

It is incredibly important to maintain child welfare and be sure that child neglect remains unacceptable. Many of these nonprofits deal with these issues and provide a support network for at-risk youth and neglected children, sometimes in the form of after school programs, tutoring, and mentorship in order to keep these children out of trouble and to prevent juvenile crime. With the work of these nonprofits, we may help children suffering from psychological abuse, physical abuse, as well as many other problems in order to help them get their lives back on track.

Many of these non profits rely heavily on donations of much needed food, clothing, and household items, and many provide emergency residence for children whose homes are not safe. Other organizations provide children with the opportunity to engage in extracurricular activities they would never have the privilege of trying, such as music, art, theater, and sports.
But not all of these nonprofits focus merely on at-risk youth. There are numerous organizations that serve children with life-threatening and chronic illnesses or disabilities. It is equally important to help out these children and provide them with guidance and support through therapeutic experiences. In addition, there are organizations that are simply out there to empower youth through skills training and resources necessary for competing in today's society.

So get involved. Help a child get back on his feet by volunteering to mentor a teenager with a troubled past or enhance the life of a child with a disability. Whatever your interests are, you'll find the best nonprofits for children and youth right here.
