Mediawiki:Spam-blacklist is meant to be used by the spam blacklist extension. Unlike the meta spam blacklist, this blacklist affects pages on the English Wikipedia only. Any administrator may edit the spam blacklist. See Wikipedia:Spam blacklist for more information about the spam blacklist.

Instructions for editors

There are 4 sections for posting comments below. Please make comments in the appropriate section. These links take you to the appropriate section:

  1. Proposed additions
  2. Proposed removals
  3. Troubleshooting and problems
  4. Discussion

Each section has a message box with instructions. In addition, please sign your posts with ~~~~ after your comment.

Completed requests are archived. Additions and removals are logged, reasons for blacklisting can be found there.

Addition of the templates {{Link summary}} (for domains), {{IP summary}} (for IP editors) and {{User summary}} (for users with account) results in the COIBot reports to be refreshed. See User:COIBot for more information on the reports.

Instructions for admins

Any admin unfamiliar with this page should probably read this first, thanks.
If in doubt, please leave a request and a spam-knowledgeable admin will follow-up.

  1. Does the site have any validity to the project?
  2. Have links been placed after warnings/blocks? Have other methods of control been exhausted? Would referring this to our anti-spam bot, XLinkBot be a more appropriate step? Is there a WikiProject Spam report? If so, a permanent link would be helpful.
  3. Please ensure all links have been removed from articles and discussion pages before blacklisting. (They do not have to be removed from user or user talk pages).
  4. Make the entry at the bottom of the list (before the last line). Please do not do this unless you are familiar with regex — the disruption that can be caused is substantial.
  5. Close the request entry on here using either {{done}} or {{not done}} as appropriate. The request should be left open for a week maybe as there will often be further related sites or an appeal in that time.
  6. Log the entry. Warning: if you do not log any entry you make on the blacklist, it may well be removed if someone appeals and no valid reasons can be found. To log the entry, you will need this number - 1090444901 after you have closed the request. See here for more info on logging.

Proposed additions[edit]

qadrishattari.xyz[edit]

This has been widely spammed for a while but it's clearly a Wikipedia mirror of sorts and not reliable, see for example this. One editor on multiple accounts and IPs in particular is responsible for the majority of it's uses and it's being used in controversial statements. PRAXIDICAE💕 14:43, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I came here to report a different URL and to my surprise saw Praxidicae's request to blacklist qadrishattari.xyz when I was sure it had already been blacklisted.
And yes it was indeed blacklisted on 16 May 2021 (blacklist request) but whitelisted on February 2022 (whitelist request). I support removing this from the whitelist again as it's not a reliable source and just used for promotional purposes. They have even gone so far as to create a different URL redirecting to qadrishattari.xyz in to circumvent the blacklist (see blacklist request that lead to blacklisting another URL). – NJD-DE (talk) 18:47, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Not so ironically, the requester is a globally locked sock and enwiki banned editor. It has been globally blacklisted, we just need an enwiki admin to please take it off the whitelist. PRAXIDICAE💕 18:48, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am not fully convinced by Praxidicae, that the site is a mirror because I can see there are content which is needed for the article like this, where I have myself cited qadrihattari. xyz in past to verify the claim by assuming it as a religious organization website. These types of religious organizations website are helpful for such atypical Niches. Also I can see It had been globally added by various trusted users of respected wikis. I see Praxidicae had blindly revert various other constructive or good faith edits relevant to that site. I am not sure WHY? Dove's talk (talk) 19:27, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps you should read WP:BMB, further it's clearly unreliable as half of the uses on Wikipedia are circular back to us with only a handful of words changed. PRAXIDICAE💕 19:30, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately your argument is baseless here per [1] , [2] [3] [4] [5] [6][7] and many more. Dove's talk (talk) 19:58, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Enlighten me, where did they get that information and who runs the site? A simple whois indicates that it is not in fact an "official" site for anything, it's run by a serial spammer. PRAXIDICAE💕 20:09, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Praxidicae: plus Added to MediaWiki:Spam-blacklist. --~TNT (talk • she/her) 18:22, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@TheresNoTime: It was already on the blacklist (you added a duplicate). See above comments. MrOllie (talk) 18:26, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Self-reverted, not entirely sure what's going on here now though ~TNT (talk • she/her) 18:29, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Praxidicae: Still I am not convinced with your hypothesis that it is run by a single person but it is a religious organization website as it is listed as religious org's website in local directories. Also per Who.is its addressed is somewhere in Maharashtra. Dove's talk (talk) 18:29, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lol. Nicelocal.in isn't a reliable source, but a simple whois will reveal a world of information and I suggest you cease adding it- further, it doesn't mean it's reliable even if what you say is true and would require attribution as to their opinion. PRAXIDICAE💕 18:31, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed that nice local.in is not reliable. Go and check on Google maps for that location you will see it as official website of Dargah Sufi Sarmast Ali Shah Qalandar. Also my argument is not on the reliability of the source but my argument is based on your clearly false hypothesis that it is a mirror and it is not any religious org website. Dove's talk (talk) 18:35, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also please do not revert the good faith and constructive edits. Dove's talk (talk) 18:36, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's a spam source, it's not reliable and does not belong on this project and it's been blacklisted. PRAXIDICAE💕 18:40, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Dove's talk: Stop edit warring now or you're getting blocked. Simple. The link has been blacklisted, and I'm trying to figure out why its not being prevented. That does not give you carte blanche to keep adding it in the meantime ~TNT (talk • she/her) 18:43, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have self reverted, the Elno section. But I believe that the citation was okay. Hope it helps. Thank you. Dove's talk (talk) 18:45, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It was formerly on the whitelist and the blacklist simultaneously, which was allowing link additions. It got removed from the whitelist yesterday. - MrOllie (talk) 18:52, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand something. The string 'xyz' is blacklisted, which should block any .xyz domain. How is it that this listing request came about, if the TLD is already blacklisted? ~Anachronist (talk) 05:15, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As explained above, it was on the whitelist, which overrides the blacklisting of the TLD. MrOllie (talk) 11:18, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yes, OK. I was clearly confused. Is the entry \bqadrishattari\.xyz\b even necessary then, if it's removed from the whitelist? It was added after the .xyz domain. ~Anachronist (talk) 17:13, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

tractorguru.in[edit]

Persistent spam by sockfarm, see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Sharmavijay123. Spicy (talk) 23:32, 26 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

techpedo.com[edit]

Has switched to sockpuppets after indef block on AbdulImru. Talk page warnings have no effect. - MrOllie (talk) 11:38, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done, socks blocked as well. I'm sure that domain name has me on an FBI watch list for reviewing it. Kuru (talk) 13:58, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
