    request for a full deep dive comparison of cell ag to insulin while we're on it would also love to know if anyone has analyzed how much the development and scale up of cell ag rennet coincided with banning veal crates. the timing is kinda similar

    But insulin is also a worst case scenario for cell ag...synthesizing insulin from cells instead of animals ended up making it MORE expensive for diabetics bc of patents and corruption and greed in the the pharma industry even though the cost to produce it went down

    From Genetech's website. It used to take 8,000 pounds of pancreas glands from 23,500 animals to make one pound of insulin. Now bacteria do that work instead. Swap out "insulin" for "food" and this could be a quote from a cultured meat founder today
