Today is #NationalNursesDay! I'm pleased to share news stories that reflect a rich, robust story about who/what nurses are & how they serve society. These stories tell of nurses' creative problem solving as they meet patient needs with limited resources.

The album provides a glimpse into her everyday life as Cornelia dedicated her work to helping the children of her community, & whose treasured memories now help us understand the experiences of women working in the burgeoning field of pediatric nursing at the turn of the century.

To celebrate, the NLM History of Medicine Division has shared a few images from a photo album in our collection that belonged to a pediatric nurse named Cornelia Mercer. Cornelia worked at the Baltimore Union Protestant Infirmary from 1909 to 1910. #HistMed
