Gartner Gives

Our Associates Make a Global Impact for Earth Day

Each year, Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 to commemorate our global commitment to making a healthier, greener planet. At Gartner, we understand the importance of contributing to a more sustainable future on Earth Day and everyday.

This year, our associates around the world used Earth Day as a day to give back to their local communities through in-person and virtual volunteer events. From planting trees to cleaning parks to taking the time to learn more about the environment, our associates volunteered in a variety of ways. Read on to learn more about the global impact of our associates.

Tree Plantation Drive

Over 50 associates from our Gurgaon, India office celebrated Earth Day by working together to plant trees in partnership with NABET, India. This marked the second large-scale tree plantation drive completed in partnership with NABET. You can learn more about the initiative in our recent blog

“On Earth day, a group of associates worked together and pledged to protect and rebuild our planet, to pass on the better version of it to our next generation.” - Jaipal Singh, SEO Manager

Park Cleanup

Associates from our Arlington, VA office joined together to participate in an Earth Day Cleanup of a local park. Their work yielded 72 bags of trash and 13 bags of recyclables along with all the construction materials that were collected and properly disposed of.

Earth Day Nature Walk

Associates were invited to take a tour of Roosevelt Island with a National Park Service Ranger to learn about the island's history, cultural significance, and natural value. In the 1930s, the park was transformed from overgrown farmland to trails and wooded uplands to honor the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt, a great outdoorsman and conservationist.

“The Earth Day tour at Roosevelt Island was more than celebrating Spring and the renewal it brings, it was about renewing and establishing new friendships and relationships with Gartner colleagues. I really enjoyed catching up with old friends, meeting some in person for the first time and making new connections.” - Kathryn Cleary, Senior Principal, Advisory

Beach Clean Up

With an estimated 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the ocean our Fort Myers, Finance Technology team decided to spend an hour on the beach combing the sand for trash. The team collected 77 items of trash with 35% being plastic.

“Volunteering to Clean-up Lovers Key State National Park (FL) on Earth Day was an opportunity for me to give back to the community. I would like to think that cleaning up the beach made a difference, as we picked up items like metal bottle tops, plastic products, string, paper, etc. I want to thank Gartner for providing us the opportunity to volunteer and clean-up the beach.” - Bill Noceda, Project Manager, Finance Technology

Virtual Learning Opportunities

Throughout the week leading up to Earth Day, associates were invited to attend a variety of virtual events to learn more about environment sustainability, tips for keeping houseplants healthy, advice for building a vegetable garden, and a discussion about how our individual actions can contribute to global sustainability goals.

"We had over 130 participants across nine events led by our colleagues, and raised money for a wide range of charities, including international environmental funds through the HR Practice Protect the Planet campaign.” - Crustal Styron, Principal, Research
