Our donors
We greatly appreciate all the support we receive to keep 80,000 Hours running.
The vast majority of our donations come from foundations and individuals, who give because they expect us to have a large social impact by helping people improve the world through their careers.
As of December 2019, we had received about $10 million in donations. Our largest donor is Open Philanthropy, which aims to identify outstanding giving opportunities with a broadly “effective altruism” approach, and whose main funders are Cari Tuna and Dustin Moskovitz, a co-founder of Facebook and Asana. Our other donors include a second foundation, several large individual philanthropists, as well as to former coaching alumni and members of the effective altruism community who donate 10% or more of their income.
We haven’t accepted any donations from corporations in exchange for promotion (though we did receive a $50,000 donation from the partnership Y Combinator to fund our participation in their nonprofit startup acceleration programme, and we receive pro bono discounts on purchases from some companies listed here).
To see our income and expenses to date in more detail, please see the financial report in our latest accounts.

We also appreciate the non-financial support we’ve received from many other people and organisations over the years.
