Q: Can I apply for grant funding as part of a larger research project?
A: Yes you can, but match funding must be in place at the time of submission. Applicants must also include a brief outline of the larger research project’s budget.

A: Yes, you can. But if your scholarship includes an amount that has been put aside for research purposes, this amount has to be less than £5,000.

Q: Who should be my referee for an Early Career Grant?
A: The application must be supported by two referees, one of which should be the applicant’s direct supervisor for the project. The other should be a senior member of the employing or affiliated organisation.

A: Previously declined applicants are eligible to apply again this year.

Q: Is an Early Career Grant the same as a Small Grant?
A: Yes, the name of our grant programme changed this year. However, nothing else about the programme has changed. We hope the new name better reflects those awarded & the impact on the individual & their careers.

A: Students are eligible for an Early Career Grant. However, applicants cannot have received a research grant in their own name before, unless the total value was less than £5,000.
