  13. Pretty chuffed, put up a bee box just a week ago on the wall of my house and already 7 tubes are filled - with these solitary bees stocking more up with eggs and food every day, amazingly quick of them to find it!

  18. This week we’re joining One of our volunteers was excited to spot a water shrew in a pond on a nature reserve last week. It lives almost entirely in wetland habitats, including ponds, streams, fens and reedbeds.

    Dandelions are a valuable source of nectar for bees & other insects, and they are very pretty and they taste good. To celebrate we have managed to identify our shingle growing specimens as Obtuse-leaved Dandelion - Taraxacum obtusifrons

    Distant views of this afternoon's brown, stripy woodpecker = Wryneck. Inside the electric fence near river mouth. It's been recorded here in 17 years since 1970, but only 1 previous spring record, 11 May 2000.
