What do you think is the most important idea?
Maybe a simple worldview called #Sentientism:
1⃣ What should we believe? Use evidence + reason
2⃣ What should we care about? Have compassion for any being that can suffer (sentient)

Protesting to try to end bad things is good.
Any questions?

The protests at Timberwolves games have done more to generate media coverage of factory farming than any amount of policy reports or academic papers in recent memory.

This week in the Commons, the government is passing legislation to silence protests, limit the legal scrutiny of ministers and allow No.10 to control the Electoral Commission. This administration is more akin to a banana republic than a modern democracy.

Hey 🙋 I’m disappointed you supported the Elections Bill. Removing the independence of the Electoral Commission reduces trust in our elections. How will you reassure voters England won't end up like Russia? #HeyMP

Loved talking to neuropsychologist, psychoanalyst & author of "The Hidden Spring" for #Sentientism YouTube & podcast.
We answered all the easy questions 🙂:
➡️ What's real?
➡️ What & who matters?
➡️ What is sentience?
➡️ How can we make a better world?
Thanks Mark!

Gosh, would never have imagined this. Biden Administration calls for $33billion in military support for Ukraine. That’s almost 10 times the annual military support for Israel. This opens up a range of support options. politico.com/news/2022/04/2

Anti-semitism seems to lurk in the dark at the base of almost every unfounded conspiracy theory vortex.
People start at the top of a vortex with what might seem to be broadly reasonable concerns. Then they get inexorably dragged down into the horror.

(Yes, I can link almost any topic to how we treat non-human animals. It's the perfect, horrific example of what can happen when our epistemology and/or our compassion fail. Arguably those failures are the two roots of every human caused problem).

You might ask "How can 33% still support the Tories?"
It's hard to condemn something that you're complicit in & that has become part of your identity. Denial, dissonance & fabrication are often psychologically easier paths.

I keep saying it, but juxtapose the measures it is taking to deal with the cost of living crisis (an MOT every 2 years, less childcare regulation); with the measures it is taking to cement executive power. It is all too obvious where its priorities are.

It will get almost no publicity, but the government just won a vote to take control of the Electoral Commission. That’s right: Johnson will now wield ultimate power over another of the bodies designed to hold executive power in check. This is not a functioning democracy.

This is a point worth examining. We have lots of stress on what if Russia goes for societal mobilization now (normally by the way by those who argued that Russia would conquer Ukraine quickly). However, societal mobilization is not easy under the best of conditions.

I keep on feeling underwhelmed by commentary which puts great stress on fear and on escalation risks without clarity on concrete scenarios and concrete alternatives. It's simple: if Russia attacks NATO, the Alliance goes to war against Russia.
There is no dilemma. twitter.com/MMazarr/status…

Do you know many people who publicly support Putin, who continue to praise and love him even now? Who stay loyal to Putin even after the massacres in Bucha and Irpin, after mass civilian killings and rapes? It's incomprehensible, right?

Now we just need to normalise acting on it 🌱
