Career Technical Education 101

We are the Napa County Office of Education College and Career Readiness Department working in partnership with Napa Valley Unified School District, Calistoga Joint Unified School District, and St. Helena Unified School District. We work with Career Technical Education (CTE) programs and support CTE work throughout the state. We provide access to career pathways, integrated curriculum, work-based learning, a variety of career exploration activities, and college planning tools.

Our vision is for a future where all students graduate high school with a better understanding of themselves and their career path, and are truly prepared to be successful in college, career, and life.

Vision

Our vision is for a future where all students graduate high school with a better understanding of themselves and their career path, where all students are truly prepared to be successful in college, career, and life.

Mission

We exist to help students find their path and create a better future for themselves. We behave with passion, collaboration, and innovation. We prepare students for college, career, and life through high-quality Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways, integrated curriculum, work-based learning, a variety of career exploration activities, and college planning tools. Our mission is to engage every student in rigorous and relevant educational pathways and programs, developed in partnership with business and industry, promoting creativity, innovation, leadership, community service, and lifelong learning, allowing students to turn their “passions into paychecks” – their dreams into careers.

Goals

  • Provide high quality curriculum and instruction for virtual and in person learners
  • Ensure all pathways are rigorous and relevant meeting at least one of the following: UC ‘a-g’ approval, industry recognized certification, articulation with Community College
  • Strengthen pathway alignment to the 11 Elements of High-Quality CTE
  • Increase meaningful and relevant work-based learning opportunities for all students
  • Strengthen vertical alignment with middle school and postsecondary education
