TEACHERS

“They give structure to the afternoons of children who would have no structure or supervision if they were at home. They help prepare students to be learners, and help them evolve socially as members of a community. They offer opportunities for enrichment that our students are unlikely to access any other way. They are positive adults responding with love and concern to the needs of our children.”
— Shearer Elementary Teacher
“Students have a safe, welcoming, and engaging program to attend. Staff works hard to plan interesting and engaging activities for students. The homework help is an essential and helpful program component. Parents appreciate support with the reading and homework! The program has evolved over time to become more dialed in to the needs of students and supports the learning and programs at the site.”
— Phillips Elementary Teacher
“My students look to the COOL School staff to provide a solid, loving, high functioning place to be during after school hours. In many cases COOL School/AmeriCorps are family to my students. After I leave they go to COOL School & spend time doing things that (in a perfect world) would be done with their families. The COOL School program at Snow is one of the finest after school programs I have had the pleasure to work with. The care & devotion shown by their staff helps create the “village” we need to raise our students.”
— Snow Elementary Teacher
