    Client side scanning is inherently vulnerable to misuse for surveillance & censorship. It is also fundamentally at odds with the core tenet of E2EE: that only the sender and intended recipient can know or infer the content shared.

    We share Meta’s worry on client side scanning — comparing a message to a database of flagged content before it is sent — to potentially detect illegal content. How can this be done in a necessary, proportionate + non-discriminatory manner, w/o hurting encryption as BSR suggests?

    In a blow for human rights, the Parliament of India has passed the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill. This bill will severely jeopardize people’s privacy and expand the scope for surveillance — it must not be enforced.

    Sentenced to five more years last December, Egyptian activist has shaved his head and started a hunger strike. The years of unlawful imprisonment, mistreatment, and torture must end. Egyptian authorities must and the thousands of activists behind bars.

    Today was 's visit, he told me he is on hunger strike since 1st day of Ramadan, Saturday, and returned all food we brought him. Only took medication, tea and personal hygiene products I'll take a moment to process, then we'll share in more detail his updates
