9 remedies for morning sickness
#1: Eat in bedNibble some crackers when you wake up.
Then rest for 20 minutes before getting up.
#2: Small and often
Eat small, frequent meals and snacks throughout the day (instead of 3 larger meals).
#3: Eat carbs and protein
Carbs and protein can ease nausea.
#4: Slow down
Whatever you eat, eat it slowly.
#5: Blander is better
Steer clear of spicy, acidic, fatty and fried foods. Bad for digestion.
Eat food cold or at room temp.
#6: Hydrate
Get plenty of fluids.
Try:
- diluted juices
- tea
- broth
- icy poles
- soup
Sparkling water is easier to keep down. Sip throughout the day.
#7: Brush
After eating, brush your teeth and rinse your mouth to get rid of lingering flavours.
#8: Vitamins and midnight snacks
Taking vitamins? Take them at bedtime, with food.
Midnight cracker-snackers may ease nighttime nausea.
#9: Ginger
Ginger settles the stomach.
Try:
- ginger ale made with real ginger
- ginger tablets
- crystallised ginger
- ginger tea
