Description
The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing IGF’s delivery truck fleet across IGF’s four locations (Atlanta, GA, Charleston, SC, Chicago, IL, and Springfield, VA) and dedicated transfer (tractor-trailer) lanes operated by external providers. This involves maintaining the current fleet, forecasting and planning future needs, and managing and cultivating new vendor relationships.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure that delivery trucks are drivable, registered, insured, and well cared for
- Monitor mileage to ensure contract compliance for leased vehicles
- Manage all vehicle repairs and accident reporting; ensure that damages are reported internally, to IGF’s insurance provider, and to Ryder
- Coordinate replacement vehicles (rentals)
- Participate in route planning and truck tracking, as necessary; assist with predicting potential routing and delivery problems based on fleet characteristics; assist with developing action plans to address routing and delivery issues
- Work closely with the Driver Captains, who are responsible for coordinating the personnel, processes, and workflow of IGF delivery drivers
- Communicate fleet-related issues to other teams, as necessary; liaise with other teams, departments, and divisions
- Participate in overall operations planning; make recommendations related to processes, resources, and staffing
- Participate in new-associate interviews and training; conduct performance reviews; help to ensure team members’ professional development
Requirements
Qualifications (required)
- Experience in logistics
- Strong analytical and investigative skills
- Ability to multi-task and work quickly and accurately under time pressure
- Ability to work as a member of a diverse team; demonstrated training and personnel management skills
- Ability to achieve planned results through decisive action based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience
- MS Office proficiency; database and workflow-management software proficiency
Qualifications (desired)
- Strong bilingual communication and writing skills (English and Spanish)
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sustain prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Must be able to bend, lift (at least 55 lb.), stretch, and climb
- Must be able to work across temperature zones (dry/refrigerated/frozen)
