Description
The Fleet Ambassador performs a variety of tasks to assist the mission of Facilities Management in serving the University of Virginia Community.Duties include:
- Working in the field to serve as a customer service representative.
- Aiding with the transport of fleet vehicles across grounds,
- Driving staff across grounds,
- Assisting with the detailing and refueling of vehicles,
- Greeting customers and assist with their needs.
- Transporting people, vehicles and materials around the surrounding area.
- Obtaining estimates for services as directed.
- Delivering and picking up vehicles to and from service providers.
- Observing and reporting vehicle maintenance/repair needs.
- Coordinating with and accommodating users of vehicles to meet vehicle maintenance and repair requirements.
- Monitoring and reporting vehicle condition to ensure safety.
- Refueling and detailing vehicles upon request.
- Providing shipping and receiving assistance to Materials-Receiving Division as required.
- Collecting and verifying data as assigned.
- Preparing new vehicles for service.
- Preparing vehicles for disposal.
Additional duties may include the commissioning and decommissioning of State Vehicles, trips to various vendors for parts and service of vehicles, and the movement of equipment to various locations. Other duties may be assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Experience: At least 8 months of experience. Student experience may be considered.
Licensure: State of Virginia Driver's License. Must have zero or a positive point balance on license and 2 years driving experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position requires walking around the fleet lot, driving a transit unit, manipulating cleaning equipment, and lifting equipment or parts as necessary. Must have the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Preferred experience:
Previous customer service experience
Previous experience detailing vehicles
Varies by assignment.
