Accessing services when off campus
College services that are on the cloud can be accessed from anywhere and at any time, as long as you have an internet connection. Popular cloud services include your email, Office 365, Panopto and Blackboard.
Other services such as shared group space, your H: drive and ICIS (not including self-service) can only be accessed when on the College network. The recommended way to access these services when working away from campus is to remotely access your College computer.
If you are unable to remote access to a computer connected to the College network, then as a last resort, you can use the College’s Virtual Private Network. Please note that although ICT provides instructions for using VPN it is not recommended for a number of security reasons.
Please note that some countries have higher levels of control of the internet which can impact access to certain services and software. Find out more about internet censorship. For those working remotely from China, we have a dedicated Guidance for those working from China web page with details on what you can and cannot access.
Whilst we continue to work away from the College during the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be hard to stay motivated. Visit our effective remote working for our top tips and tricks.
