Dr Colin Hale
Colin holds a Masters degree and Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London.
Prior to his appointment as a Senior Teaching Fellow within the Department he worked as a Research Fellow on multiphase flow for both the upstream and downstream oil and gas industry and also in nuclear thermal hydraulics. He developed pioneering techniques for X-ray tomographic imaging of multiphase flows through pipeline which is now deployed widely as well as a pilot scale test facility for replicating asphaltene fouling processes occurring petroleum refinery heat exchangers.
In 2018 he received the prestigious President’s Award for Excellence in Supporting the Student Experience, and has previously been the Chemical Engineering Graduate Teaching Assistant Nominee for the Faculty of Engineering Teaching Excellence Award.
He currently has a lead role in commissioning and operating the Department's pilot scale absorption plant for carbon capture.

Andrew Macey
Andrew is the Summer School lead for laboratories and is concerned with making sure that everything (and everyone) moves smoothly in the experiments and rig-building competition. If it doesn’t work Andrew will put it right – or tell you how to!
He is also a keen organiser of the annual 5-a-side soccer competition, fiercely fought out by our regular visiting colleges. Not only that but a quiet whisper in his ear and he’ll organise a tour up the Queen’s Tower – all 324 steps to the viewing gallery!

Clive Rodgers
Clive is continuously working behind the scenes, encouraging both industry and academia to consider our growing portfolio of training programmes. Many will recognise him as introducing our Summer School whilst others will perhaps have been attracted to our industry-focused training programmes through his presence at exhibitions or via our webpages.
As a communicator, marketeer and project manager, Clive has considerable expertise gained from nearly twenty years of working in the most demanding of central government Departments and Agencies, and years more in the pressure cooker of private sector advertising, design and PR agencies and business book publishing.
Clive is also an accomplished Ravensbourne-trained graphic designer and a skilled calligrapher. His guiding principle is providing effective information in formats that are as understandable and attractive as possible, allowing recipients to make correctly informed decisions and judgements.

Professor Daryl Williams
Professor Daryl Williams is the Director of the Pilot Plant Project, a £10M major refurbishment of the Chemical Engineering Department, completed in 2012. The ChemEng Discovery Space includes a £2M Carbon Capture Pilot Plant as well as a suite of UG Teaching Laboratories.
Daryl is now looking to develop strategic partnerships with industry and academic partners to exploit these unique Departmental teaching facilities. He studied Physical Chemistry at the University of Melbourne and has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College. In 2017 he was awarded the President's Medal for Excellence in External Collaboration and Partnerships. His research interests focus on the manufacture and characterisation of particulate materials.
