Classes of Information

The main groups of classes of information in the Publication Scheme 2009 are:

  1. Who we are and what we do
  2. What we spend and how we spend it
  3. What our priorities are and how we are doing
  4. How we make decisions
  5. Our policies and procedures
  6. Lists and registers
  7. The services we offer

The classes used in this Publication Scheme are explained as follows:

Class: Examples of the type of information that fits in this class

Description: A brief description to aid in understanding what the type of information is.

Format: The media in which the information is to be provided, ie paper or electronically (via the Internet or email).

Charge: Whether there is a charge for any of the information within each class.

Datasets

The Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 requires all public authorities to release datasets, disclosed as a result of Freedom of Information Act requests, in a re-usable electronic format so far as reasonably practicable (unless they are satisfied that it is not appropriate to do so).

See further details and published datasets.

How the information is made available

The College aims to publish as much information as possible from February 2004 via its website. Older versions of documents or historical information may only be available on request from January 2005.

The publications listed in the scheme may be made available in a variety of ways. The individual class will state which of the following options is available:

Online: Most of the information is provided through links on the scheme to information available elsewhere on the College website.

Email: Some material not available on the website may be made available by e-mail. Please contact the Freedom of Information Officer if you wish any information to be made available in this way. (E-mail Freedom of Information Office)

Post: Unless stated otherwise in the appropriate section, a single black and white printout of any document available on the College website is available on request from the Freedom of Information Officer. We aim to send the information within 20 days of receipt of the request and any required fee.

Inspection: All documents can be viewed by inspection, please contact the Freedom of Information Officer to arrange this.

Notes on Charges

Website: All electronic documents available over the Internet are made available free of charge, unless otherwise stated.

Email: All documents which the College maintains in an electronic form will be made available free of charge unless otherwise stated. For other documents e.g. minutes of meetings that are only available in a hard copy, for a minimum charge of £2.50 we will provide digital copies of up to 5 pages to each person making a request. There will be an additional charge of 50 pence for each additional page requested.
Where the document(s) requested cannot be sent by e-mail due to the size, then, they can be provided on compact disc for an additional £1.50.

Post: A single printout, in black and white, of any document the College maintains in an electronic format will be made available free of charge. Subsequent copies can be obtained at a cost of 50 pence per page plus postage. Where the request is for a document requiring special production, e.g. colour printing, then for a minimum charge of £2.50 we will provide up to 5 pages to each person making a request. There will be an additional charge of 50 pence for each additional page requested.

Inspection: Free of charge to view documents. The above guidelines will be used to determine the fee if a copy is required.
