When to apply
Application deadlines and dates you need to know.
If you submit your completed application by the relevant deadline, it's guaranteed to be given equal consideration. However, you need to make sure you include all your personal details and your academic reference.
We recommend giving yourself plenty of time to complete your application as there’s quite a bit to do.
You don’t need to complete it all at once, as you can save it as you go. It's worth making sure you have enough time to spend on each element – particularly your personal statement.

Course-related admissions tests
If you apply for an Imperial course that requires an admissions test – like Medicine which requires you to take the BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) or Mathematics which requires Mathematics Admissions Test (MAT) – you’ll need to check:
- the registration deadline for the test
- when the test takes place and what it includes
To see if your course requires you to sit an admissions test, check the entry requirements on the relevant course page.
Don’t leave checking until the last minute as you may end up missing the deadline.
Most admissions tests happen between August and November the year before you're due to start your studies – some even earlier, before you’ve sent your UCAS application.
