Action for Healthy Kids

Action for Healthy Kid’s mission is to mobilize school professionals, families and communities to take actions that lead to healthy eating, physical activity and healthier schools where kids thrive. Their equation includes the healthy eating and physical activity building blocks required for an environment in which every kid is healthy, active and ready to learn. It’s a framework for coordinated action in support of improved school and student health, which are prerequisites to academic success.

Active Schools

Active Schools is dedicated to making it easier for schools to create an active school environment which provides students with at least 60 minutes a day of physical education and physical activity.

Active Schools operates based on the collective impact framework, designed to tackle deeply entrenched and complex social problems, based on the belief that no single program, policy, organization, or government agency can solve them alone. The Active Schools movement is powered by more than 90 public and private sector partner organizations and 37,000 individual champions affiliated with more than 23,000 schools that serve over 13 million students.

National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability

Founded in 1999, the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD) is a public health practice and resource center on health promotion for people with disability. National Head Start Association

The National Head Start Association is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization committed to the belief that every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, has the ability to succeed in life. PAVe

PAVe is a national grassroots organization founded in 2018 by three New York City moms — Dina Alessi, Meredith Berkman, and Dorian Fuhrman — as a response to the youth vaping epidemic.

The catalyst for PAVe was their discovery in April, 2018 that a JUUL representative had entered their sons’ high-school through an outside anti-addiction group, without the school’s knowledge, and told the 9th-grade students, without adults present, that JUUL was “totally safe” and would receive FDA approval “any day.” (Their Congressional testimony about this incident was cited by FDA as evidence that JUUL had marketed directly to kids.)

The Michael and Susan Dell Center for Healthy living is an international leader in conducting research and providing programs that promote healthy living for children, their families and communities. Their work fosters improved health behaviors among youth, influences policy and environmental change to support healthy living, and advances professional education and community service. The Center for Healthy Living team leads ongoing scientific research and further development of the CATCH program.
