Action for Healthy Kids

Action for Healthy Kid’s mission is to mobilize school professionals, families and communities to take actions that lead to healthy eating, physical activity and healthier schools where kids thrive. Their equation includes the healthy eating and physical activity building blocks required for an environment in which every kid is healthy, active and ready to learn. It’s a framework for coordinated action in support of improved school and student health, which are prerequisites to academic success.

Active Schools

Active Schools is dedicated to making it easier for schools to create an active school environment which provides students with at least 60 minutes a day of physical education and physical activity.

Active Schools operates based on the collective impact framework, designed to tackle deeply entrenched and complex social problems, based on the belief that no single program, policy, organization, or government agency can solve them alone. The Active Schools movement is powered by more than 90 public and private sector partner organizations and 37,000 individual champions affiliated with more than 23,000 schools that serve over 13 million students.

Granville Vance Public Health

HOSA is an international student organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education (HSE) Division of ACTE. HOSA’s two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the health care industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA’s goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to join and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.

Located in Louisville, KY, the Foundation seeks to improve community health and well-being through support of nonprofit partners that promote healthy behaviors, health education, and access to health services.

MD Anderson Cancer Center

The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public. MD Anderson joined CATCH Global Foundation as a founding partner in 2015. MD Anderson provides funding to the foundation for infrastructure and operations, curriculum development and dissemination, and program and technology support. The collaboration is an initiative of MD Anderson’s Moon Shots Program, which aims to accelerate the conversion of scientific discoveries into advances that significantly reduce cancer deaths.

Michael and Susan Dell Foundation

Inspired by their passion for children and by a shared desire to improve the lives of children living in urban poverty, Michael and Susan Dell established their Austin, Texas-based foundation in 1999.

National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability

Founded in 1999, the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD) is a public health practice and resource center on health promotion for people with disability. NCHPAD seeks to help people with disability and other chronic health conditions achieve health benefits through increased participation in all types of physical and social activities, including fitness and aquatic activities, recreational and sports programs, adaptive equipment usage, and more.

National Head Start Association

The National Head Start Association is a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization committed to the belief that every child, regardless of circumstances at birth, has the ability to succeed in life. The opportunities offered by Head Start lead to healthier, empowered children and families, and stronger, more vibrant communities. NHSA is the voice for more than 1 million children, 200,000 staff and 1,600 Head Start grantees in the United States.

Since 1974, NHSA has worked diligently for policy changes that ensure all at-risk children have access to the Head Start model of support for the whole child, the family and the community.

NHSA offers an impressive portfolio of professional development services and programs for the entire early childhood community. These include the annual National Head Start Conference, the largest national event devoted to the Early Head Start and Head Start community, and the National Parent Conference, the only national event devoted to parents and families.

PAVe

PAVe is a national grassroots organization founded in 2018 by three New York City moms — Dina Alessi, Meredith Berkman, and Dorian Fuhrman — as a response to the youth vaping epidemic.

The catalyst for PAVe was their discovery in April, 2018 that a JUUL representative had entered their sons’ high-school through an outside anti-addiction group, without the school’s knowledge, and told the 9th-grade students, without adults present, that JUUL was “totally safe” and would receive FDA approval “any day.” (Their Congressional testimony about this incident was cited by FDA as evidence that JUUL had marketed directly to kids.)

RGK Foundation

SNAP-Ed

SNAP-Ed (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – Education) is a federal/state partnership that supports nutrition education for persons eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Two key federal partners are NIFA and the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS).

Special Olympics

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

The University of Texas School of Public Health’s Michael & Susan Dell Center for Healthy Living

The Michael and Susan Dell Center for Healthy living is an international leader in conducting research and providing programs that promote healthy living for children, their families and communities. Their work fosters improved health behaviors among youth, influences policy and environmental change to support healthy living, and advances professional education and community service. The Center for Healthy Living team leads ongoing scientific research and further development of the CATCH program.
