Always grateful for 's honest and nuanced writing and how it helps me wrangle with complex issues. I struggled a lot with getting my booster and although I got it, I am still very angry about vaccine inequity and privilege.

  6. A sketch to explain how a new variant may appear milder even with no change in underlying virulence. This can occur because, when calculating the fraction of cases that are severe, the denominator now includes many re-infections that had previously been averted. A thread. 1/8

  7. . has authorized Pfizer booster shots for 16- & 17-years olds, without asking its vax expert panel for advice. isn't expected to ask either. This approach sidesteps what would likely have been lengthy discussion about myocarditis.

I'm sorry to say I'm worried about Omicron. A lot we still don't know, but this much is becoming clear: Cases are rising very, very fast in places with high immunity to COVID 1/

  21. 2/2 the virus was shifting its offense. it was threatening to come at my community with a battering ram. so I shored up my already-super-strong defenses so I'd be really to meet it.
