COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

KQED puts the well-being of our community first.
To care for the health and safety of our guests, staff and volunteers, we will follow all local, state and federal guidelines as it pertains to COVID precautions for gatherings both indoors and outdoors. You can find information about current guidelines observed at our San Francisco venue in San Francisco’s Safer Return Together Order.

Proof of vaccination will be required to enter the building.
Proof of full vaccination completed at least two weeks prior to your visit — either in the form of your physical CDC Vaccination Record card or your digital vaccination record — must be presented before entering the building. You can easily register for your digital vaccination record for access on your mobile device.

All guests are required to wear a properly fitted mask inside of the facility.
Per the most recent CDC guidelines and the newly reinstated California mask mandate, we are asking guests to consider the safety of those around them by masking up at all times when visiting the KQED Headquarters. Guests should wear a properly fitted mask that aligns with the San Francisco Department of Public Health mask safety guidance. Staff and volunteers will adhere to the same mask guidelines. Event speakers and performers — all fully vaccinated — may be unmasked only when onstage and at a distance of more than six feet from others.

We have upgraded to a new state-of-the-art HVAC system and ductwork.
We have upgraded our HVAC system and ductwork to align with CDC guidelines following the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) guidance (PDF). This includes an increased introduction of outside air with dampers open to reduce recirculation and improved central air filtration.

There will be enhanced disinfecting of high-touch surfaces.
Countertops, railings, restrooms, and seating areas will be cleaned and disinfected thoroughly throughout the day. While the risk of contracting COVID-19 from a contaminated surface (also known as fomite transmission) is thought to be extremely low, we want to do everything we can to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests.

Digital access to our live event programming will be available.
We understand that there are a lot of variables to consider when making the decision to attend a live event, and the last thing we want to do is exclude those who aren’t ready to take this step. Guests will have the option of attending most events in person or streaming the content from home.

An event may cancel, postpone, or shift to streaming-only offerings.
We will remain diligent amid the pandemic’s changing circumstances. If an onstage guest or staff member becomes sick or if local public health directives escalate restriction, we will notify you of any changes to our planned events and offer to refund or transfer your tickets.

We will continue to closely review public health guidelines and update our safety protocol as necessary. Staying informed is our best prospect for remaining safe as we move forward with navigating through the pandemic. KQED is dedicated to staying up to date with current guidelines to ensure a safe experience for all. Keep checking KQED for up-to-date news regarding COVID-19.
